A sister is a friend you don’t have to avoid the truth with. This is why pride is at the root of almost every other sin, because we think we can ignore God’s ways. The best thing about having a sister was that I always had a friend. Most of all, a prideful person thinks they have little need for God, believing their way is always best. I never say this as much as I should, but I hope you know that I am proud of you. We’ll always be honored to have known you and been friends with you, even if we’ve only known each other for a few semesters. Prideful people also have little love or compassion for others, and are only interested in themselves. We don’t need to be your parents to feel proud of you. When pride controls our lives, we end up thinking we are better than anyone else.

…pride becomes a sin when it turns into arrogance and self-centeredness.

Good friends) Food and wine is better when you’re with friends. Pride is a sin don’t be blind to its consequences. When you’re in Italy, one way to understand the culture of the place is to eat its food there’s just so much soul and life in the food they serve Buon cibo. But when we take all the credit for our success and begin to think that we’re better than everyone else-then pride turns into something poisonous. The key to a happy life is to have accomplishments to be proud of and purpose to look forward to, and at the moment I had both. The Bible says, ‘I know that there is nothing better for people than to … find satisfaction in all their toil-this is a gift of God’ (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13). It’s not necessarily wrong to take pride in our work, or in something else we’ve done well the Bible urges us to be diligent and do our best. The Bible says: ‘For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world’ (1 John 2:16). It makes my job easier knowing I can depend on you. Thank you for a job well done, every time. Pride is associated with failure, not success. We are proud of everything you have accomplished so far, and hope that you are every bit as proud of yourself. Pride comes in looking at ourselves, meekness comes through looking at God. You had ambitious thoughts of yourself, your powers, desires, and aims but now that will begin to change…you have been born again. There may have been a time when pride was the very center of your life. It is not in wanting to have things but in wanting more things than others. It is not in wanting to be noticed but in wanting to be the most noticed. Pride consist not in wanting to be rich, but in wanting to be richer than your neighbor. No one like an arrogant, prideful person. Pride always puts above others-and cuts off from them as a result. Pride flees when we compare ourselves to God instead of other people.
